Detroit Red Wings Legend,  Gordie Howe in a very early on-ice photo.  Jersey is vintage 1946, 1947, or 1948.  If it's a rookie photo, the jersey is #17.
Note Gordie is using his long-time favorite Northland Pro wood stick with no blade curve. Heavy leather gloves, heavy wool sweater, all-leather/no side protection skates.  Old equipment, old technology, yet his speed on ice, and the speed of his shots match up well with today's best!
